The healthy eating theatre show

"Captain Carrot...Field Agent" tells the story of a reluctant superhero and his band of friendly vegetables, as they battle the evil Burger and his plans for world domination using an army of noxious nuggets.

We believe children's first experience of theatre should be professional, totally engaging and fun. We therefore tour a full set, professional lighting, a digital sound system, bespoke puppets and props along with breathtaking magical illusions. Our staff all have at least 15 years experience within professional theatre, cinema and TV.  "Captain Carrot" and his vegetable friends will teach children through theatre, games, puppetry, music and drama to:

  • Talk about what they like and dislike.
  • Identifying for themselves how food can be approached differently and how their diets can be improved in the future.
  • Attain a knowledge and understanding of the characteristics of fruit, vegetables and junk food.
  • Gain an understanding of where food comes from, and how it is grown.

There are teacher reviews from schools throughout the UK at our 'Comments' page to help you decide if this show is suitable for your school.

Spud was in a roast, he knew he'd gone to seed, and dreamt of being a new potato.

But things had just got worse. In his jacket he discovered a mysterious note threatening to turn him into French Fries. Not knowing anything about Europe he turns to the only person who can help, Captain Carrot...Field Agent.

Spuds chips are down...Will he survive the mash he finds himself in or is he stuffed? Can Spud ever become the great King Edward he always dreamt of?

  • Creating work that make vegetables fun, colourful and exciting, is the goal of this exciting and hilarious piece of edu-tainment.
  • The bespoke puppets have been specially created by the marionette masters 'Presto Puppets'.
  • All of the magic and illusions have been chosen to highlight the aims of the piece, with many flown in for this production from the the USA.
  • New music has been written by musical director Steve Hessian, it has  been studio recorded using professional musicians.
  • All the puppets are voiced by a cast of professional actors, and brought to life with digital sound technology.

Simon Bamford has been a professional actor on stage and screen for the past 26 years.

In 2008 he completed his fifth feature film. Starring Sophie Ward and 'Robin Hood's' Jonas Armstrong it is due for cinema release later this year.

Simon is associate director of the international touring company 'Richmond Productions', he recently returned from a world tour of "The complete works of William Shakespeare (abridged)" and in 2005 he directed two new plays for Cairo and Bucharest

He won the 'actor of the year' award for his performance as 'Pip' in 'Great Expectations' both here in the UK and at the Vassa Theatre in Stockholm. He has also performed in plays and musicals throughout the world from Cambridge to Qatar, Cardiff to Karachi (where he helped raise money for a new school)

Simon has set out to create a piece of theatre that will help bridge the gap between the enormous amounts of money spent marketing fast food to kids and their poor cousins the fruit and vegetables.

Captain Carrot is sponsored by those wonderful people at the British Carrot Growers Association, www.britishcarrots.co.uk
